Time to catch up...

Ok so I need to catch up on what's been going on with us the past week or so...It was Ruben's 5th Birthday!!! I can't believe I've had him for 5 years already!? He is such a big adorable baby - I love him so much it hurts my heart sometimes. We got him a 3 ft. bone and he was thrilled! He wouldn't let anyone come near him. My dad had to end up cutting it in half because he was having trouble maneuvering it around the house :)

What else is new this week??? TWILIGHT!!! I'm so obsessed with it its kinda annoying. We went and saw the movie and I've had to start rereading the series again. I just finished book #2 again. I thought the movie was good but I wish it had more passion. I know its hard to show all of that emotion and passion onscreen but I left the movie needing more! All in all I thought it was really good but I think I need to go and see it again.

And then there was Thanksgiving! We had dinner at my mom's last saturday nite so that we could be with both families this year. and on Thanksgiving day we went up to Pine Valley and had dinner at the B.I. with my dad and Mateo's family as well. It was really nice - it snowed! Thanksgiving in Pine Valley are my favorite. Mateo had to make his famous garlic rosemary mashed potatoes for both dinners! I'm pretty sure he's gonna get stuck with this job for the rest of our lives :)

We also decorated our house for Christmas too! We put up our tree... I love Christmas and I am looking forward to spending time with my family during the holidays!

November 21, 2008Reversed PerceptionsBeing Projected Upon We all have issues, as well as undesirable qualities or traits that we don’t like about ourselves. Most of us realize that we are not perfect and that it is natural to have unpleasant thoughts, motivations, desires, or feelings. However, when a person does not acknowledge these, they may ascribe those characteristics to someone else, deeming other people instead as angry, jealous, or insecure. In psychological terms, such blaming and fault finding is called projection. When we are the target of projections, it can be confusing and frustrating, not to mention maddening, particularly when we know that we are not the cause of another person’s distress. Even people who are well aware of their issues may find that sensitive subjects can bring up unexpected projections. They may feel insecure about a lack of funds and thus view a friend as extravagant. Or, if they really want to get in shape, they may preach the benefits of exercise to anyone and everyone. While we can try to avoid people we know who engage in projecting their “stuff” onto others, we can’t always steer clear of such encounters. We can, however, deflect some projections through mindfulness and meditation. A useful visualization tool is to imagine wrapping ourselves in a protective light everyday. At other times, we may have to put up a protective shield when we feel a projection coming our way, reminding ourselves that someone else’s issues are not ours. Although it’s difficult not to react when we are the recipient of a projection, it is a good idea to try to remain calm and let the other person know if they are being unreasonable and disrespectful. We all know that it’s not fun to be dumped on. Likewise, we should be mindful that we don’t take our own frustrations out on others. When we take ownership of our thoughts, motivations, desires, and feelings, we are less likely to project our issues or disowned qualities onto others.

Halloween

This year we dressed up as ''mexicans''! It actually was pretty funny but I was super embarrassed to be seen - I was afraid I was gonna get jumped or something :) We bought our entire outfits at GenX and we had the whole thing going on with the gold ''jewels'' to the wife beaters w/ the dickies and the boxers and even our sweet house shoes...

Anyways...We went to a haunted house that my Aunt Terri and whole family put on and then went to Braxton's 8th B/day party! It was kind of an uneventful night...I'm thinking that Halloween gets alot more exciting again when you have kids? (I must be getting old to actually say that out loud).
